@neillm Not sure but it could have something to do with the hmac_sha512_hash function inside is_new_seed. I have removed the whole stuff from normalize_text except the normalize('NKFD, seed) call inside electrum. The seed bit pattern are same before and after the function call as well in electrum as in VS. They differ after hmac call.
