@jungly This is a known issue. If you're able to resolve it, or provide more input on it, it would be great. Most of the time it works on my debian setup, but does hang sometimes. It almost always hangs on travis-ci, so we've been looking at it off and on. https://github.com/libbitcoin/libbitcoin-protocol/issues/130

Just to clarify, this is an issue with the test case setup, not production code. It doesn't reproduce in VC++ builds, which has made it harder to debug.

When I built v3.5.0 with zmq v4.2.5, I could not stop bs without the blockchain directory becoming corrupt as zmq errorred out. I do not remember the exact error message, but there was an issue already logged in the zmq repo for it. Downgrading to zmq v4.2.3 avoids this problem.

@Alex Hrm, strange, I recall hitting that myself on an older version of zmq and upgrading was the answer. I have not seen it since we moved to v4.2.5. I am curious if you have more details

Looks like it has been fixed in master so building with install.sh should have no problem.

The zmq issue looks like it was fixed in 4.2.5, no?

Ah, no, I see, interesting. Ok, the server issue I posted is not a match for that, but moved us to 4.2.5. I have seen that zmq issue in a previous version, but don't recall which exactly. After upgrading, I did not see it again. I'll note that you see it with 4.2.5 though
