On Linux libbitcoin uses ICU 55.1 with boost 1.62. Do you think it is possible to build a dependency (like ICU) with old toolset (e.g. vs 2010) and the rest with toolset for VS 2017? Can it be done? I don't think so but I have not enought experience. ICU 55.1 doesn't want to build with VS 2017 toolset. The default toolset for ICU 55.1 seems to be v100 (vs 2010). The ICU 61.1 build works perfectly with vs 2017, all tests are passed. I can imagine ICU upgrade will be necessary because of vs builds.
