Libbitcoin isolates nearly all core Bitcoin understanding to the primitives. The sole exception (which is found only in libbitcoin-blockchain) pertains to computation of cumulative work and therefore the strongest chain. IOW core concepts are can be learned with no need to understand a database or blockchain organizer. P2P networking is isolated to libbitcoin-network (and libbitcoin-node for blocks and txs).
