Okay that's quite useful, I don't mind which way I achieve the communication to be honest. So I'm assuming libbitcoin-network has the capability to connect in a more customised way? From my reading I couldn't see other ways to connect to peer nodes, aside from libbitcoin-client, if you could link me to some documentation that would be great. I'm not really trying to achieve anything too complex either. This is just an experimental project. I'd like to mention that I have played around with the magic bytes etc of the original litecoin code! Though I don't think that will be an issue.
