I have a question about electrum server. This might be off topic, but just throwing the question here. I looked into how they sync off a bitcoind node to build a database that the server uses. I don't get why they used the JSON-RPC api for the first sync. For an initial sync with bitcoind, would it not be faster to shutdown bitcoind, so electrum can open leveldb, and then read the data off the db directly? Just curious if @evoskuil or @narodnik knew more about this.
