As for parsing, I don’t see how we could do anything if they don’t accept a public interface in native format. At that point we could decide how we would want to encapsulate the format, possibly in ec_private and ec_public. But since so many encodings, including Bitcoin scripts, use our format natively, I’m not sure it would be a net benefit.
