Bitcoin full node and query server

Hi guys, so we're using libbitcoin-server to query blocks and txs. The zmq interface uses the REQ/REP pattern. According to the ZMQ documentation "This socket type allows only an alternating sequence of zmq_send(request) and subsequent zmq_recv(reply) calls". Is there a standard way to scale this? First thing that came to mind is using multiple REQ sockets but it seems kind of wrong. As you can imagine, our process is wasting time just waiting to receive the reply. Thanks!
