Height is an index of confirmation. While headers in weak branches all have height, we would have to identify the branch to make the information meaningful. So we don’t have a height query for unconfirmed blocks. But if you know the hash you can query. Though we may not currently support emission of unpopulated or unconfirmed blocks. That’s a fairly trivial distinction tho, can easily be updated. Same for txs. If you have the hash you can request it.
