The http layer that @neillm built provides a simple integrated block explorer as a proof of concept direct from a configurable server port. He's adapted it to support json-rpc. The htpp implementation is our own, initially for licensing and bugginess issues with other options. But I'm planning to rebuild it on top of our boost asio (p2p network) stack, which will eliminate a lot of the code.
