Overlaying the address traffic (typically 30kb per connection) disguises this clean asymptotic iteration. There's also a lot of connection dropping (over 800 completed handshakes to reach 500 holding connections) after the handshake, probably because of lack of feature support. That should improve as more is added. But filtering the address pool made a huge difference.
