I also looked at the store creation/initialization. It takes 28 secs on my SSD and 49 secs on my HDD to initialize the primary tables. This prob can't be improved. I looked at both std::memset and std::fill for the headers, but they have the same perf. That and flushing the headers to disk is the full cost.
