The above 6 sec delay is the result of actually loading a significant number of blocks during the 3 seconds that the node was running. Startup is always less than 1 sec, even with a large store. With nothing new to flush, shutdown is < 1 sec with a new store, and on my HDD is 10 secs with my current 138GB store.
