Note that in the case of confirming when under checkpoint or milestone, all that is required is a per tx entry in the strong_tx table for every tx in each confirmed block. This takes 19 minutes for the entire chain. Given that writes don’t hit the chain, and that no hash table queries are even necessary to write blocks, a milestone run should be pretty zippy.
