At 180k the block start to have some content, and plots start to settle down. This is a ratio of megabytes in the increment (10k blocks) by seconds to confirm the increment (MB/sec). At 180k it looked like the new index was going to underperform. The combined data size is larger, so seemed possible. But the significantly reduced paging took over as blocks filled up (which is between 200-300k).
