We lose a lot of useful information. Should we consider alternatives?

Hi all,
I just joined and would love to be able to go thru the archive. I did some reading and it seems that workspace owners/admins can export data form public channels after going through a little process thru Slack. Here's some links to it:

I don't think that Discord has a message expiry. It seems to be the de-facto for a lot of projects I follow.
