Another query simply returns the malleable flag that is set on the txs association (and disassociation). Finally we require to know that, when receiving a mealleable block, whether we have already invalidated that variant of the block with the same hash - so we don't continue to store and invalidate the same block. So even though it's disassociated, we use the old association(s) to determine this condition. In this case the set of tx hashes will be distinct for a new variant, despite the block hash being the same. So we just enumerate the old associations (these are inherently reachable in the store hash table even though normally the most recently written is the only we retrieve) and compare the hash sets.
