Tested Core v26.0 with comparable configuration today. It achieves about 5% of the 804,000 blocks under its "assume valid". So about 20x slower than libbitcoin. But that's only because I'm up against my WAN bandwidth limit of 1GB/s. We could probably be 10x faster on a 10GB/s connection but Core would not be because it hits no local machine limits (not scalable).

that's really fast with libbitcoin. you can run pruned with libbitcoin? i want to try to sync, but don't know if i need to buy a sdd extra first

Pruning is part of the store design but it isn’t implemented yet. v4 work is ongoing and it’s still pretty early, though key aspects are working well. An SSD is important for performance. And the system can scale to use all available RAM (and will eventually do the same with CPU once validation is fanned out). My machine is 32x2 cores and 256 GB RAM, but like 7 years old.
