I also noticed that after having downloaded only about 30GB of blocks (out of over 600) the Core shutdown time was 30-45 seconds. Actually comparable to what ours is at that level, if not longer. During that time a warning is presented to not shut down the computer - so there is an explicit acknowledgement that its store is not fault tolerant (which we know but they didn't formerly acknowledge).
