Another simple optimization got the above 79 minute time for confirmability and confirmation, with no checkpoints/milestones, down to 73 minutes. So we're close to 1 hour for sync and 1 hr for confirmability, which can run concurrently on large machines. With checkpoints/milestone this is 65 minutes total combined.
