To validate the full chain requires reading all blocks (99%) and all prevouts (15%) of the store body (not including heads and paging through conflict lists). But the disk should generally be much faster than the CPU can validate (which is apparent in low disk utilization), in which case it is only a performance factor in the CPU utilization in read/parse.
