With the new secp256k1 build, full validation without download (which takes 60 minutes) or confirmation, on the maxi (without shani) is running at about a 3.5 hours completion rate at block 700k. Note that given this is a vc++ build, this doesn't include assembly optimizations in secp256k1. shani is significant for validation, as all signatures imply a signature hash of the tx. I suspect that a comparable machine with shani will complete full validation in under 3 hours.
