Another performance mod and config simplification that I've been looking at is changing the nine hashmap tables to configure with an base 2 exponent instead of a bucket count. This significantly reduces granularity of control over bucket count and therefore conflict rates. But it also reduces the hash function cost by swapping out modulo (%) for shift right (>>). There are tens of billions of calls to this function, and this would cut it's latency by 3 or 4x on typical hardware.
