Was on the road for a few days. Back now, running some more performance tests. It looks like the movement of most of the confirmation query to the validation (partial order) phase significantly increased paging in that phase, resulting in an increase in full validation cost on the mini. In the same build it significantly increases performance on the maxi, where paging is not a material issue. The record run on the maxi (non-shani) is 4.5 hours, but since this is now running most of confirmation in parallel, it can scale much better. More/faster threads/network will proportionally reduce sync time.
