Running on the mini it became apparent that something was off. Despite the exact same search rate, performance was very slow due to disk thrashing. Turns out I hadn't actually reduced the actual searches, I was just reporting the reduction. So I just made that simple change. But all the great numbers above on the maxi are based on execution of search for every point insert. So that time will get a little better on the maxi, even though it was close to typical.
