So far the arguments are: (1) Libbitcoin sucks. (2) You can trust Core in place of validation (it's in the process). (3) There's no central authority in the BIP, but see #2. (4) Hosting our trust blobs is expensive, so you do it. (5) Sync is slow, and if you do it fast you're hurting the network. (6) Validation is slow, and we will solve that by dropping that feature. (7) Sipa wants it, that comment about not validating wasn't supposed to be released yet. (8) It's really SPV but we don't want to have to change our wallet, so take this. (9) Satoshi said only use his software.
