In order to get GPU past CPU, the write contention of signature capture needs to be resolved. This is similar to the problem of block archival write contention resolved yesterday, but this occurs during validation. Turns out that this can be resolved in a way that also eliminates nearly all of the capture leakage (24% of all signatures), and without any additional complexity or much disruption. At that point capture cost should become almost free aside from potential paging impact - though that won't affect a big machine at all.
