Once this completes I'll run a full sequential sync, with the expectation that store serialization will be similarly faster. However the long pole may be network deserialization. So following that completion I'll apply the simple stream optimization to network I/O as well and run it again. If we get a comparable reduction, sequential sync off of our canonical peer node would drop from 12 to 8 hours.
