So we now have flawless disk full handling and snapshot recovery. Disk space can be increased without stopping the process, and snapshots can be backed up live. So there should currently be no reason to stop the process unless physical space is insufficient or configuration changes are required. I do have a plan to make most configuration dynamic as well.
