One of the nice things about the append-only relational design is that these updates only append relatively small independent tables, and require no additional reads. So running this concurrently will have little performance impact - just like the massive Electrum addressing. Also, performing this during block write eliminates the need to look up the tx surrogate keys, since they are in hand.
