This is the lowest end specification run I've ever attempted. 8 dual cores (16 logical) @ base clock 2.1GHz 8 GiB 2400Mhz RAM 2TB 560/530 MBps SATA SSD 7 year old Dell board 2.3Gbps peak measured WAN bandwidth. It completed a full chain sync to block 840,000 in 2:15.

Another run with max machine, no step specified, 3,599 seconds. So a 50k step as no net cost on the run, but significantly improves ordering and reduces cost of validation while downloading. And 81 secs shutdown time, which is awesome for ultra hi RAM full chain sync. After getting to about 8% of the chain Core took 15 minutes to stop on this same machine.
