This is the lowest end specification run I've ever attempted.
8 dual cores (16 logical) @ base clock 2.1GHz
8 GiB 2400Mhz RAM
2TB 560/530 MBps SATA SSD
7 year old Dell board
2.3Gbps peak measured WAN bandwidth.
It completed a full chain sync to block 840,000 in 2:15.

So if you want to fire up the node and use it for something other than validating your incoming money, you can have it up and fully usable quickly and validation can continue in the background.
