This is the lowest end specification run I've ever attempted.
8 dual cores (16 logical) @ base clock 2.1GHz
8 GiB 2400Mhz RAM
2TB 560/530 MBps SATA SSD
7 year old Dell board
2.3Gbps peak measured WAN bandwidth.
It completed a full chain sync to block 840,000 in 2:15.

What's happening is that the things I optimize go away, but the time then gets absorbed waiting on the network, because I'm up against the bandwidth limit. Can only squeeze that grape so much.
