Downloading and validating. This is the CPU picture we want to see from start to finish. It only drops off the peg for two reasons. (1) to flush to disk [which can be eliminated entirely with sufficient RAM], and (2) to wait for the last blocks in the concurrency window [which can be entirely eliminated by opening the window to the full chain]. However to do #2 you really need to do #1.
