It will be interesting to see how a maximal machine with shani fare in terms of validation. The large amount or RAM eliminates disk paging and the entire validation run is performed in RAM. All blocks and prevouts are deserialized from the store and validated. Validation is concurrent, with all blocks queued up for validation, invoked as soon as a thread becomes available. The block numbers in the plots above are block counts, not block heights. The first 295k blocks are checkpointed by consensus and complete within a few seconds.
