It was pretty trivial to update the client/server functional test harness to emit a notification (e.g. new block or tx), which is the notification trigger for subscriptions. The test socket just does the handshake, the subscription, calls notify, reads the socket. Super simple right in the boost test cases. Between calls blocks and/or txs can be added and/or confirmed.
